When insight is not enough…
You generally develop insight into something. Just saying this means there is somewhat of a separation between you and your situation; having an insight sometimes still puts you in the position of outside observer. It is only when you have merged with your outside environment and you have become one with your situation that you can really apply the insights you have gleaned. Why would that be the case?
Consider the two following, analogous situations. You watch an action movie with people jumping from roof to roof or performing some incredible feats. You tell yourself, I can do that. Can you? It’s not until you try it yourself that you can know what it is that you can do and what’s beyond your reach. Here’s another example. You probably remember what it felt like to attend a lecture in school and then going home and realizing that you cannot reproduce what the instructor did on the board. Why is that? It’s simply a consequence of the fact that simply listening is passive, what is needed to integrate knowledge is actively trying the tools yourself. Since most people passively listen in class, once they go home they cannot gain any traction because they have not tried what was presented yet. In both situations, whether it be the movie or the classroom experience, you passively convince yourself of something, whether it be flying in the air, or thinking you can do the stuff. You have something in mind, which may be disconnected from an external environment. That’s a little bit like having an insight into a situation insofar as it is just a mental realization, something intellectual really, until you actually turn this insight into action. For example in those two simple examples I gave you, you (usually) later realize there is a mismatch between what you think, and what you can actually do. That realization happens during the implementation phase. As a matter of fact, that gap is typically enormous. Here in the more abstract situation of having an insight into a situation, that mismatch translates into you not being able to fully implement that insight.
What is the problem really? Why is an insight not sufficient? Simply because the insight happens in a closed box, your mind, while life has to do with you manifesting the self in your outside environment. Sometimes the insight is sufficient for your own purposes, but generally though you will realize at some point it is just not enough. Next comes the manifestation phase, the realization of your insight, and this is purely experiential. We are talking about something dynamic here; you have to elevate that insight to a level where it is then projected out. This is why in particular it is usually not sufficient to just map out higher patterns in your life, that just provides insights. Yes it helps you in understanding your situation. But next you have to apply this to your situation, and that’s not by just dwelling on your insights. Things improve considerably when you elevate your self to a level where you can utilize those insights, and that’s what I mean by consciousness elevation in part. That part is critical, and I will accompany you there. First step is connecting the dots at the ground level. Second step that’s the elevation phase, where you transcend your problem.
Now this is far from obvious. Why would one need to ``elevate” anything at this point? Simply because the insight is an articulation of something happening in a higher sphere, and the thing we are talking about is in a higher sphere precisely because until we discussed it, you could not work with it, it was inaccessible, it was simply beyond our ordinary reality. Now your situation being fully defined in a higher sphere, that means it is dynamic in particular. You however reside in a lower stratum, with your insight in mind, in a somewhat static fashion. But to apply it to your situation, which resides in a higher level, you have to shift gears and somehow lift yourself up to that higher level to then manifest your insight. That move is an elevation, and since it is your mind that is involved, your consciousness strictly speaking, we talk of ``consciousness elevation”.
